Children from local schools, and adults of all ages lined the Royal Mile and waited outside the Scottish Parliament to see the vintage Lothian Bus cruise past the Parliament, the Dynamic Earth and the magnificent backdrop of Arthur's Seat. The bus circled to a halt outside Holyrood Palace, where the Oyympic heroes waved to the crowds, before all coming down to sign autographs.

"Chris Hoy has been keen to argue against Edinburgh Council’s plans to downsize and sell off Meadowbank including the Velodrome, and both the Council and the Scottish Government are under considerable pressure to turn their rhetoric on sport into hard cash that provides for grassroots and elite sports." writes Kevin Connor of the Save Meadowbank Campaign.

Save Meadowbank campaigner Angus, admitted that the team had been up all night making the placards and had managed to get some 200 made.
Leith & North rejoices that Leith and Edinburgh's young athletes have such an inspiring example in Hoy, Edgar, Florence and Grainger. Let's hope that the Scottish Government will find the resources to Save Meadowbank and ensure that Scotland has world class facilities in place to match the endeavour of all our sports people whether they are current champions or aspiring youths.
